We have a silent study area for people to use the wi-fi.

The Staff-they rock!!!
I love being a librarian--I wish I could sleep in the library!
The Patrons are interesting and friendly. It's nice to receive compliments when you help someone. It's also nice to see people you know come visit you.
Cataloging children's books is fun!
Library seems to be a Hot spot in town. Meaning, the meeting rooms are booked. Patrons are using the computers. Patrons are checking out books, DVDS, and other materials.
It is also a therapeutic place. If I'm having a so-so day, I go to work, and I forget about my problems. The Library lifts my spirits!

(although I also work at the Sewickley Library, I'm going to write about Shaler as my training credits for this adventure are going there...)

The random puppet shows that occur now that the puppets have been liberated.
All of the staff - everyone is so friendly, welcoming, and accommodating!
The beautiful view out of the many windows in the children's department.
The fact that there is always something fun going on.
The new room arrangements since the remodeling!
When children remember me from storytime.

6 Things I love about USC Library

Without a doubt, the number one thing I love about the Upper St. Clair Library is the staff. It's a wonderful work environment, and I feel they are my friends as well as my coworkers.
I only have about a five minute commute to work, so proximity is definitely a plus.
Free parking!
I love having access to all the materials in the county.
I love the look on a child's face when you find the exact book they're looking for.
The atmosphere is bright and cheerful.

That I have the flexibility to work in two depts: Children's and Tech Serv.
I get to see new non-fiction as I check DDC #s.

The thought about sending reasons we love our libraries to legislators planning to cut funding is a good one--perhaps that would be an actual list that we wiki-fy (We'd have one big list instead of individual lists.) An idea for that is this list of why authors like indy bookstores: Instead, we could make it why librarians like libraries. Or, enlist PA authors. Well, keep it simple.

The director and staff of course..our schedules are different but we do have fun when we are together at our Christmas Party.
Books .. first glance at new titles.
I read a lot of mysteries, and the opportunity to meet the Mystery Authors at the tea in Oakmont every year is great.
Programs, and crafts that work and the thanks from kids and adults when they do.
Patrons.. interesting, funny people. Have enjoyable conversations, although some you want to just go away..far, far away.

The wonderful staff!
A patron's excitement when you help them find exactly what they were looking for
Free books and movies!
Being able to offer services that the patrons value (ex. Teaching computer classes, taking book deliveries to the local nursing home/retirement village)
Being able to work at the "same" library that I went to while I was growing up (even if it's in a new building now)
The fact that our branch location is in the local high school, which allows the HS library to stay open after school hours (A lot of students take advantage of this!)

Our nonexistent second floor. Must be Terry Pratchett's "L Space."
Sending out overdue notices for The Bible and a bill for Bookkeeping Made Simple.
The hundred or so books and DVDs I check out every week, every one of which my preschooler will happily enjoy over and over again. Until I actually buy it.
The Dummies series, especially How to Fix Everything for Dummies.

Library seems to be a Hot spot in town. Meaning, the meeting rooms are booked. Patrons are using the computers. Patrons are checking out books, DVDS, and other materials.
It is also a therapeutic place. If I'm having a so-so day, I go to work, and I forget about my problems. The Library lifts my spirits!

Without a doubt, the number one thing I love about the Upper St. Clair Library is the staff. It's a wonderful work environment, and I feel they are my friends as well as my coworkers.
I only have about a five minute commute to work, so proximity is definitely a plus.
Free parking!
I love having access to all the materials in the county.
I love the look on a child's face when you find the exact book they're looking for.
The atmosphere is bright and cheerful.

Six Things I Love About Mt. Lebanon Library

My colleagues have become like family. We enjoy each other, lots of laughs (most of the time) and support.
In addition to being great people, our staff has such complementary and varied abilities. It makes for a productive and creative environment.
I love working with children and parents, but also have the opportunity for "quiet" work when I catalogue. (which I love to do). I consider myself very lucky to have both public service & technical service responsibilities.
We have wonderful community support and appreciation.
No idea that the Children's staff comes up with is too outlandish. We may need to rein some ideas in, but there is encouragement for new ideas.

I had forgotten that I had a pbworks account so I just needed to change my password--couldn't remember the original one. But I'm having a really good time playing with all of this. I generally am helping customers with these things and never took the time to actually play with them myself. This is such a great experience.

This was an easy but fun assignment. The only thing I didn't
like was the amount of time I had to wait until I was able to save

This really was easy! Now I'm going back to review RSS and Delicious. They are more difficult to get my mind around. Maybe redoing them in a very quiet atmosphere will help. Think working on them 5 minutes at a time (amid constant interruptions) makes them less easy to "get"?
